About modules

What are Modules

Modules are a project of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, which aims to improve the quality of physical and sport education classes through innovative content and interesting educational methods. The project coordinates the interconnection of a school environment with the environment of sports associations, clubs and organisations. In addition to improving the quality of PaSE, its aim is to show pupils the different possibilities and ways of spending their free time. Last but not least, it inspires and motivates educators to use innovative methods, helping them to advance in their career development.

What is one module

One module represents a coherent thematic set of 6 lessons. Those will be taught by a professional trainer or instructor (a so-called Provider) directly during the PaSE class together with the class teacher. The module must be taught in the same and standardised way in all schools. It must be age-appropriate and linked to the curriculum. The school does not pay any fee for the provided Module.

How and who selects providers

Providers are carefully selected by an expert committee of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic based on a grant call for each school year. Successful grant applicants are contractually allowed to carry out the activity directly in PaSE classes throughout the school year, always on the basis of an agreement with the headmaster.

For whom is the project intended

For the school years 2021/2022 and 2022/2023, the project is aimed at pupils in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th years of the I. grade of primary schools.

How to get involved in the Modules project

Providers approach schools directly and arrange cooperation with the headmasters. At the moment, a it’s not possible for a school to apply or choose a module, but it can be approached. Looking forward, the aim of the project is to create a fixed selection from which schools can choose the Module they are interested in.
